Surrounding Budapest and 65,000 hectares beyond, the Pilis Park Forest is one of Hungary’s major excursion destinations, attracting thousands of visitors each year. Thanks to recent investment, soon new benches, shelters and cooking spots will be built and renovated along 1,000km of trails weaving through the woods, facilitating the activities of hikers and cyclists from Ráckeve to Visegrád.

Good news for outdoor adventurers – the largest ecotourism amenity in Hungary, the Pilis Park Forest, will soon be welcoming new rain shelters as well as 1,000 new sets of benches and 100 barbecue areas.

The cooking spots will have new, modern, easy-to-maintain equipment, while infrastructure for cyclists will also be improved, as will springs and bridges.

The Pilis Park Forest stretches as far as Visegrád in the north, Gödöllő in the east and Ráckeve in the south. It touches on 116 municipal boundaries, including 16 districts of Budapest.
