A major transport hub opposite Parliament on the Buda side, Batthyány tér is currently enjoying a makeover, reducing the number of buses, planting flowers, and increasing bins and benches.

As workmen make Batthyány tér more pedestrian-friendly, a new traffic system will soon be in place for buses to use different parts of the square, further freeing up space.

At the top of the map, nearest the market hall, the service road will be closed and made available to pedestrians.

From 9 June, the taxi rank in front of Szent Anna Church (left) will be moved to the other side of the service road parallel to the Danube, allowing buses on routes 39 and 109 to use it. Buses 11 and 111 will stop at the entrance to the underpass on the north side of the square nearest the statue of Ferenc Kölcsey (right) and northbound cars will not be able to turn left towards Fő utca from Bem rakpart.
