Plenty of trees, a water feature and a pretty communal space – if this all sounds like somewhere in Buda, you’d be wrong. In fact, it’s deepest, darkest District VIII, the grittiest of city neighbourhoods. The creation of a park in memory of revered actress Irén Psota will replace the grimy façades at the junction of Szigony utca and Tömő utca with high-tech office space, residential buildings and pleasant greenery.

Integral to the Corvin Innovation Campus urban development, a green communal space should be ready by the autumn. Central to this public facility will be a water feature, providing a refreshing sensation in the heat of summer.

The Irén Psota Memorial Park will be lined with trees and tropically themed wooden seats, alongside the said memorial to the post-war actress, star of stage and screen for half a century.

Planners have paid special attention to biodiversity, with bird-friendly shrubs and perennials being planted, allowing for greenery all year round.
