Budapest Transport (BKK) has just announced a one-day initiative to encourage drivers to leave the car behind this Thursday, 22 April, and travel for free on the city's network. To help promote environmental awareness on Earth Day, motorists will only need to show their driving licence in place of a valid ticket or pass.

As part of a growing trend of encouraging motorists to travel by means other than their car, Budapest Transport (BKK) is celebrating Earth Day by offering free rides to drivers.

Hungarian-only details can be found here, general information in English on lines and schedules here. The offer also applies to HÉV suburban rail lines within the city limits.
