The gradual renovation of the Danube embankments all through Budapest has become a hot topic. Now there’s news of the makeover of the Little Danube at Pesterzsébet, where a series of mini piers and a promenade are planned.
Stretching for nearly a kilometre from the recently renovated
Pesterzsébet Iodine Salt Baths towards Soroksár at the very southern tip of
Pest, the banks of the Little Danube remain fragmented and neglected.
A new
initiative now has the aim of making it more accessible and user-friendly, with
mini piers jutting out into the water, a promenade and a picnic area. Bicycle
storage and an outdoor gym are also planned.
While its implementation has been delayed, the concept has already been developed after public consultation. Now, according to pesterzsebet.hu, the embankment development is expected to be in place for this September.
