New restrictions have just been announced, banning the staging of public events in Hungary attracting more than 500 people beyond the 15 August deadline set by a previous decree. Until now, it had been understood that the ban might have been lifted after mid-August – but now it remains in place until the next decision might be taken.

After the announcement that there would be no fireworks celebrations for Hungary’s national day, 20 August, the Hungarian government has declared a ban on all public events attracting more than 500 people beyond the initial 15 August deadline.
