The American Corner Budapest is holding a lecture on 5 March, recapping the results of next week's Super Tuesday and explaining the ongoing US presidential primary elections. The event is free to attend, although registration is mandatory as spaces will be limited.

The American Corner Budapest is a community organisation designed to bring educational and fun events to international audiences, focusing on US history and topics of interest. There are 640 American Corners set up globally, with four in Hungary. Here in Budapest, they run a regular improv comedy series, as well as a popular Conversation Club for practising English, along with one-off events and lectures such as the upcoming Super Tuesday talk.

Taking place in the February or March of any US presidential election year, Super Tuesday is when the greatest number of states hold primaries to select delegates to send to summer's national conventions. There, each party officially picks its presidential candidate. This year, much of the focus is on the entangled Democratic nomination, as the world waits to see who will be going up against Donald Trump in November's presidential election.

The two experts giving the lecture are Dr Tamás Magyarics and Professor Stanley Ward. Dr Magyarics is a professor at the School of English and America Studies at ELTE, as well as being the Chair of its American Studies Department. He served as Ambassador to Ireland between 2011-2015, and his fields of interest include the history of the Cold War and the theory of international relations. Professor Ward is a senior lecturer at Corvinus University Budapest, and was formerly a lecturer in the American Studies Department at ELTE Budapest. His work also includes consultations on Intercultural and Business Communications, as well as International Affairs.

The lecture will take place on 5 March at 6pm, at the American Corner Budapest in Corvinus University. Attendance is free, but registration is mandatory as spaces will be limited.
