No NYE parties for Budapest – decision on Christmas still to come

According to an announcement just made by Hungarian Prime Minster Viktor Orbán, the curfew currently imposed between 8pm and 5am will stay in place until 11 January. This also includes New Year’s Eve. Arrangements for Christmas have yet to be decided and should be made public on 21 December, once later pandemic statistics become available.

While curfew details concerning Christmas have yet to be announced, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was clear about arrangements for the week afterwards: “What is certain is that there will be no exception on 31 December. New Year’s Eve parties and street celebrations cannot be held this year,” he said.
