From this Thursday, 22 October, the renovated southern section of metro line 3 will reopen to the public after extensive renovation. This will allow the whole line, from south Pest to north, to operate once more, although the central stations either side of Deák Ferenc tér, Arany János utca, Ferenciek tere, Corvin-negyed and Semmelweis Klinikák, remain closed.

On the eve of the public holiday on 23 October, this Thursday sees the reopening of the whole extent of blue metro line 3, from 5pm. The rebuilt southern stations of Határ út, Pöttyös utca, Ecseri út and Népliget have been given a modern visual makeover, the public areas made more comfortable, safer and, thanks to their LED lighting, not only brighter but more energy-efficient. 

In addition, the information boards, tunnel spaces, railway network and safety equipment have all been renewed. Work began on the southern section of line 3 in April 2019.


Renovation of the central part will continue until the end of 2021, with full accessibility the aim. Lifts have already been installed at Határ út and Népliget stations, and preparatory work is still underway at Pöttyös utca and Ecseri út stations.
