Budapest may have seen any number of renovations of late, but there are still many buildings and facilities in the capital that are struggling with oblivion. These images by Tamás Pataki as part of his urbex – urban exploration – project allow you to discover otherwise inaccessible interiors.

It could be the catacombs of Paris or former industrial complexes in the Soviet Union but Urban Exploration is a major global undertaking. Here in Budapest, Tamás Pataki gains access to neglected buildings such as the Central Hospital of the Interior Ministry, the Otthon department store and the former Ballet Institute at the Drechsler Palace, to produce unique, ghostly images. Take a look!
