Hot on the heels of Budapest’s celebrated tram, Father Christmas and his companions can now be seen travelling on the illuminated Santa trolley. It’s also a charity box on wheels, and runs around town until 19 December.

Every year since 2015, the Mikulástroli (Santa Trolley) has whizzed around Budapest. As well as handing out sweets, Santa and his team will be fundraising for the Baptist Charity Service, which delivers gifts to families in need through their Shoe Box promotion.

Wrapped in 10,000 LED lights on the outside, done out like Christmas within, the numbers 70, 72, 75, 80A and 83 are running every day of the week until December 19. See the timetable here.

There’s a few changes to their regular routes, the No.72 going as far as Deák Ferenc tér after Arany János utca, while the 80A calls at Blaha Lujza tér.

Standard tickets and passes are valid.
