Tips for child-friendly cultural spaces, lively playgrounds and welcoming restaurants – all of these are plotted on a new map, making family trips to Budapest that little bit easier.

Founders of several children’s organisations, Fruzsina Nyári and husband Zsolt are not new to the world of travelling with young ones. After becoming seasoned urban parents, they decided to share their knowledge with families visiting Budapest.

Budapest with Kids, a map by produced in English and Hungarian by Nyári’s baby-supply company Babagúz, lays out all of the amazing attractions you can enjoy as a family in the city. The design was created by Anna Babics, graphics by László Báthori and Zita Lengyel-Szabó.

The map was created with a slow and green mindset, focusing on imaginative playgrounds, cosy inner-city bookshops, welcoming restaurants and other family attractions. The map also shows the best hills to roll down, the greenest parks, plenty of suggestions for playgrounds, child-friendly cultural institutions and community spaces, charming cafés, children’s stores, favourite spots for locals and exciting new venues.

“Many customers who hire prams from us ask about where to go with kids. We try and make our recommendations easy to reach,” says Fruzsina.

Budapest with Kids is not just a publication, but the starting point of a meaningful dialogue about how to make the city more approachable, attractive and exciting for families,” says its designer, Anna Babics.

The map is available here, at the Lottirose pick-up point on Deák Ferenc tér and at partner organisations. Each purchase contributes 100 forints to the children’s charities. An app is expected to be ready for the spring of 2020.
