Sprinkled with cinnamon, cocoa, walnut, coconut, vanilla and everything sweet, various versions of this tasty treat will be here for you to sample, while the festival also presents the age-old methods of preparing chimney cake, from baking it over hot coals to frying it in oil. This family-friendly event is complete with concerts and fun for kids.

6:30pm - 8pm: The Smiling Lombana at the Bem Cinema

Tito Lombana is a promising young artist whose story takes on a darker hue when he becomes romantically involved with a savvy, liberal Italian woman. Why is talking about him taboo even in his own family? Lombana’s granddaughter isn’t afraid to ask as she digs into her grandfather’s past. The artist came to embody the collective tragedy of a country that chose to surrender to the lure of easy money. English and Hungarian subtitles.

8pm - : Dimitri de Perrot at Trafó

Dimitri de Perrot works with materials that performers self-evidently have to hand: the sounds of quiet concentration, the relics of former productions, sounds, noises, the silence of the audience. Like every performer, Perrot has established a special relationship with the audience over the years: they spend many a night together in the curious world of spotlights, where almost nothing can be seen, from the stage, of those who watch from the auditorium. By contrast, a lot can be heard and felt. Dimitri de Perrot calls this relationship literally awkward, sometimes unpleasant, but always inspiring and conducive to creativity.

10am - : Hungarian Spa Culture Day at various venues

1pm - : Critical Mass with Dogs at Szent István tér (by the Basilica)

For the first time in Budapest, instead of displaying an ocean of bikes, Critical Mass is directing its attention towards dogs this Saturday. The event intends to show the increasing number of our four-legged friends trying to live trouble-free in a busy city, and shed light on the difficulties that dog owners face because of the lack of space for their pets. The march begins at 1pm by the Basilica on Szent István tér, then heads towards Heroes’ Square.

The Hooverphonic trio are that rare bird, a famous act from Belgium. The 23-year-old group originally defined their genre as a trip hop, but they quickly expanded their sound to the point where it can no longer be described with a single genre, but rather encompass a multitude, alternative, electronica, electropop, rock, and a mixture of others. They play the Akvárium Klub on 12 October.

Sunday

8pm - : Comedy Night and Roast Battle at Neverland

An English-language stand-up night will be held at the Neverland Bar & Escape Room on Sunday. After the comedians introduce themselves, the roast battles commence.
