After sunset, Budapest’s iconic Chain Bridge is being lit up in blue and white, the colours of the Scottish flag, for the occasion of Saint Andrew’s Day. Anyone interested can join proud Scot Iain Lindsay, the British ambassador to Hungary, members of the Saint Andrew’s Association and bagpipe players for this magical moment from 4:15pm on Eötvös tér, near the Pest side of Chain Bridge. If you can’t make it, tune in via live broadcast on the Facebook page of UK in Hungary or on the Instagram page of @ambassadorlindsay.

Hungary and Scotland have close connections, the two nations cherishing a long and dear friendship. And as Budapest’s postcard superstar Chain Bridge was completed by a Scottish engineer, Adam Clark, it’s only appropriate to dress it up for Scotland’s national day. The bridge is being lit up in the colours of the Scottish flag between 4pm and midnight today, Friday, and Saturday.
