Budapest Classics Film Marathon
Claudia Cardinale (Once Upon a Time in the West, 8½, The Leopard), Klaus Maria Brandauer (Mephisto, Colonel Redl, Out of Africa) and Jean-Marc Barr (The Big Blue), as well as Katinka Farago, Ingmar Bergman’s legendary Hungarian-born colleague, are all coming to Budapest. Hungarian films restored by the Film Archive and Hungarian Filmlab will be screened alongside masterpieces restored by other major European archives. This is the first opportunity to see the superbly restored Oscar-winning Mephisto, while documentaries on such defining female characters of the film industry as Hedy Lamarr and the cream of the Cannes Film Festival will be on show. The audience can also learn what inspired Wes Anderson during the filming of The Grand Budapest Hotel. All this and more at the 2nd Budapest Classics Film Marathon starting on 4 September. Mamma Mia Here We Go Again
If you haven't yet seen the sequel to Mamma Mia!, you can still do in September. The musical based on the best songs by ABBA charmed audiences ten years ago, and now here we go again a decade later with another feel-good flick. The sequel picks up the story after the wild wedding in which bride-to-be Sophie invited three of her mum’s former lovers, before it flashes back to the past, telling the tale of the young Donna (Meryl Streep) and the Dynamos.

Queen – Hungarian Rhapsody: Live In Budapest 1986
In 1986, Queen threw a memorable concert in Hungary as one of the few bands from Western Europe to perform behind the Iron Curtain. Fantastic Freddie Mercury
sang the sweetest Hungarian folk song,Tavaszi szél, which still touches the heart of all Hungarians to this day. This concert was recorded and enhanced with extra scenes of the band arriving in Budapest, walking the streets of the city and go-karting at Hungaroring. The movie evokes the atmosphere of legendary Queen concerts, so do not miss out on seeing it screened at the Corvin Cinema on September 7th. More details

The internet lore around the fictional supernatural character Slender Man captivated crowds, even leading to the near fatal stabbing of a 12 year old in the US. Now the legend Slender Man has been made into a film. Small-town best friends Hallie, Chloe, Wren and Katie go online to try and conjure up the Slender Man, a tall, thin, horrifying figure whose face has no discernible features. Two weeks later, Katie mysteriously disappears during a class trip to a historic graveyard. Determined to find her, the girls soon suspect that the legend of the Slender Man may be all too real.
