Friday

11am - Budapest Spring Festival at various venues

The Budapest Spring Festival, a dynamic series of world-class concerts, edgy exhibitions, free shows and much more kicks off on Friday. This contemporary urban celebration lasts for nearly a month, and features endless intriguing events citywide. See our former article for more details.

11am - : 36th Hungarian Press Photo Exhibition at the Capa Center

The Hungarian Press Photo Exhibition annually presents the country's finest works of photojournalism from the past year. The works on view are award-winning individual photos (news items) and series (reportage), taken in 2017 and submitted in a total of 14 categories.

6pm - Barside 1st Birthday Bash at Barside

During the long weekend of Easter, this cool downtown bar celebrates its first birthday. Cocktails, spirits, improvisation and several surprises await. Pop in to have your share of the fun.

8pm - 10:15pm: The Shawshank Redemption at the Bem Cinema “Brooks was here” “So was Red” – now try not to cry. In Shawshank Redemption, banker Andy (Tim Robbins) gets a life sentence at the Shawshank State Prison in Maine for a double murder. In prison another lifer, Red (Morgan Freeman), picks him as the new recruit most likely to crack under the pressure. But Andy does not crack, as he has the hope of the truly innocent. Original audio, Hungarian subtitles.

11pm - 5am: Caliente - Reggaeton + Latinpop Night at Volt Lokál

Machos and mamacitas will be shaking it on the dance floor to the hottest Latino tunes on Friday night at Volt Lokál, where the best songs of Shakira, Ricky Martin, J. Lo and others fill the sensual atmosphere.

Saturday

8am - 2pm: Easter Czakó Market at Czakó Kert

This farmers’ market full of friendly vendors awaits visitors in the lovely garden of an old Hungarian peasant house, bringing the atmosphere of the countryside to Budapest. This time the focus is on Easter, so in addition to the regular selection of countless unique specialties, eggs, braided milk loafs, hams and other Eastertime treats await visitors.

9:30am - 1pm: Rákóczi Breakfast at the Rákóczi Square Market Hall

Start your Saturday with a great community breakfast. All the necessary equipment such as chairs, tables, chopping boards, glasses and stuff will be provided by the organizers, Mindspace, but the ingredients are down to you. When you arrive, head to their table outside Spar, check what is missing and contribute with a little something. There will be music and a great atmosphere. Feel free to join.

6pm - 7pm: BB'z Full Moon Yoga at BB'z Bar and Grill

On Saturday afternoon you can enjoy an invigorating yoga session under a huge fake full moon that will illuminate the whole room at this cool downtown bar. Please register in advance at yogabrunchbudapest@gmail.com and bring your own mat. There’s nachos and cocktails afterwards.

11pm - 5am: Gerappaaa Retro Party at VOLT Lokál

Don sassy socks, choker necklaces, or baggy pants and a baseball cap as the songs of Eminem, the Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, the Pussycat Dolls, the Spice Girls and other treasures from the ’90s trash bag are back again. Head to VOLT Lokál on Saturday night and travel back in time with the hottest hits of your youth. Entry is free.

Sunday

11am - 4pm: Lego Exchange at Ellátóház

Lego separators, pretty flowers and special edition sets; everything you wished you had as a kid and made you seriously jealous at kindergarden. Well, now your time has come, as Budapest's cool ruin pub, EllátóHáz fills with countless Lego bricks on Sunday, tempting you to try and buy new bricks and sets.

1pm - 6pm: Trotting Season Opening at Kincsem Park

Budapest’s premier racetrack opens the 2018 trotting season on Sunday. Experience the adrenaline-pumping power of fast-paced equestrian action and bet on the best horse as the winning prize is high. Don't leave the little ones at home either, as face painting, animal petting, arts and craft activities and many other colorful kids' events also await. Entry is free.

7pm - 10pm: Krak’n Roll Craft Beer Music Show at Krak'n Town

Venturing into the cave of the mechanical kraken on Sunday, you can glimpse into the blossoming beer revolution of Budapest. Enjoy a a musical beer dinner guided by a sommelier and try five glasses of delicious Hungarian beers amid an extravagant steampunk environment, blues and rock'n'roll.
