Parallel Avant-Garde – Pécs Workshop 1968-1980 at the
Ludwig Museum This temporary exhibition at Budapest’s contemporary Ludwig Museum – on view from Friday until June 25th – aims to emphasize the significance of the activities of a neo-Avant-Garde artistic group that used to mainly exist on the periphery of the Hungarian art scene.

Sakura celebration at ELTE Botanical Garden
The Sakura celebration is a traditional event at the Botanical Garden of the Eötvös Loránd University, connected to the blooming of Japanese cherry trees in April, and the traditional Japanese celebration, the Hanami. At this time, when the cherry trees blossom at the botanical garden, visitors follow the Japanese tradition and have picnics on blankets amid the garden’s aromatic scene, admiring the blooming Sakura trees. ELTE’s Füvészkert awaits visitors on Saturday and Sunday this weekend with plenty of programs.

Easter in Budapest at various venues
In Hungary, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, and – for the first time this year – Good Friday are public holidays, when Magyars host high-spirited celebrations that evoke old traditions and customs all around the country. In Budapest, the Várkert Bazaar near the Buda Castle awaits families with day-long festivities during April 15-17, such as a colorful Easter-egg exhibit that presents various traditional methods of egg painting, as well as artisanal activities, concerts, and a kid’s corner. Meanwhile, the Easter Fair on Vörösmarty Square presents a wide range of folk-art merchandise and workshops with masters of various traditional crafts.

6pm - 3am: Bike N Nite 020 // She Fire Charity Night at Anker’tBike N Nite is a monthly event series that aims to combine volunteering, helping people in need, biking, culture, and nightlife, and to bring together kind-hearted people from all scenes of society. At this donation-based party, popular DJs spin discs at Anker’t, and after the event all revenues will be used for community cooking sessions and weekly food distributions organized by Budapest Bike Maffia.
7:30pm - 10:30pm: René Jacobs and the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin at the Palace of ArtsRené Jacobs, who started his career as a singer and then rose to the top echelon of conductors specializing in old music, is known as a musician who likes to explore and often makes surprising discoveries. His concerts are guaranteed to shine a new light on even the best-known compositions.
8pm - 11pm:

Yasmine Hamdan /LB/, Antonia Vai /HU/ at A38
The iconic diva of Middle Eastern sounds, the Lebanon-born Yasmine Hamdan, returns to Budapest to give a great gig aboard A38. The muse of Jim Jarmusch and the ex-singer of the Soap Kills will present songs of her new album, while her support act will be Antonia Vai.

12pm - 4pm: Easter Sunday Brunch at Corinthia Hotel Budapest

In the film, after a series of unfortunate events, Brian, an average Jewish man, accidentally gets mistaken for the Messiah, and has to face his followers, his mother, the members of a separatist movement, and even Pontius Pilate.
7pm - 11pm: Merchandise (US / 4AD), Belau, Agavoid at Dürer Kert Merchandise is one of the world’s most interesting bands, made up of equal parts of punk misanthropy, maudlin balladeering, fine art, low humor, classical study, mad science, and pop genius. The Florida-based trio recently released their fifth album titled “A Corpse Wired for Sound”, which they present at their Budapest gig on Sunday at Dürer Kert. Their warmup acts will be two exciting Hungarian bands, Belau and Agavoid. 10pm - 5am:
Retro 2000s – Easter at
BRKLYNBudapest’s beloved downtown BRKLYN club once again hosts the city’s best retro party with three residents behind the turntables: Gomes, O’neal, and Whiteboy. Don those lace-up shirts, capri pants, crop tops, and funky fedoras and head to BRKLYN for a rowdy nostalgic retro party.
