With the return of springtime’s sun-splashed days in the Hungarian capital, many of Budapest’s pool parks and the outdoor amenities of the city’s thermal baths are reopening to welcome visitors for refreshing alfresco dips. The open-air pools of the Gellért Bath will be available to the public beginning on April 13th to accommodate sunlit soakers through the spring and summer season. Additionally, the tanning terraces of several historic Budapest spas – including Széchenyi, Lukács, and Rudas baths – are already enticing anyone who wants to catch some rays in the Magyar metropolis.

Budapest’s renowned Gellért Bath welcomes visitors all year round with thermally heated pools inside its Art Nouveau indoor facilities, but this spectacular spa’s alfresco area is closed during the colder months. However, beginning on Thursday, April 13th, the Gellért Bath will welcome soakers to its fresh-air facilities once again, including amenities like the swimming pool, the thermally heated pool, and the sauna. The main outdoor swimming pool of Gellért is complete with a wave-generating machine, but this will only be activated on April 29th.

Gellért Bath is not the only Budapest plunge site that welcomes sun-soakers early in springtime – we can already catch some rays at many of the city’s sun terraces, including at Széchenyi Bath, at Lukács Bath, and at Rudas Bath, where tanning zones are already accessible for guests.

Following the opening of Gellért’s outdoor facilities, many of the city’s alfresco pool complexes are scheduled to start operating in the next couple of months, including the romantic Csillaghegyi Bath on May 27th and the semi-hidden Római Bath on May 28th. Then on June 3rd, a trio of Budapest’s most popular pool complexes reopen all at once: the Palatinus water park on Margaret Island, the sprawling Paskál pool zone in District XIV, and the family-friendly Pünkösdfürdő Beach in the city’s Óbuda neighborhood.
