Because of ongoing construction works at Szent Gellért Square, the statuesque Liberty Bridge is closed down for a while, which offers locals a new kind of spontaneous program: bridge picnics! On Monday, more than 100 people flooded the bridge to enjoy this central span as an open-air playground, including couples sipping wine on the tram tracks, jamming musicians, and creative flash mobs – and many are hoping that this was not the last of these occasions. Our staff photographer Norbert Hartyányi documented the event with a stunning series of black-and-white images.
