LogMeIn, mainly active in the field of IT security and remote access, is one of the Hungarian startups that we are most proud of. The company belongs to the forefront of the international market, and increased so much in size that they outgrew their office. The expansion is at least as impressive as the results achieved by the company.
The modern-era history of Andrássy Avenue 9 dates back to 1994, when Dutch architect Erick van Egeraat and his Hungarian colleagues received a request for the reconstruction of this neo-Renaissance building, originally built in 1889. This is when a rather spectacular element – a whale-shaped meeting room – was built, based on the harmonious interplay of wood and metal.
The company’s expansion also brought about further remodeling work, and the result is one of the city’s most spectacular offices, created with the help of designer Aliz Matisz, which is styled to match the interior design of LogMeIn’s Boston office.
LogMeIn’s office differs from most startup companies in that the goal was not the creation of the classic “adult playground”, but instead the introduction of simplicity. This is apparent not only in the design of the space, but also in the unique, fully customizable furniture of Vitra-Bouroullec Tyde, which also contributes to the visual clarity of the office.
In our opinion, the highlight of the office is the meeting room on the top floor, which offers a superb view of the rooftop of the surrounding buildings and Andrássy Avenue.
Nevertheless, the office space is not finished – and it never will be. In response to our question about future plans, they said that this is a never-ending project: they will always find things to work on, and have plenty of ideas that they haven’t realized yet.
