Budapest Weekend Guide: June 24-26

Our weekly roundup for the upcoming weekend offers plenty of suggestions for where to go, what to do, and who must not be missed during the next three days. There are always so many happenings to choose from in Budapest – festivals, exhibits, live music, cocktails, performances, and more – but here is our pick of the bunch for the imminent 72 hours or so:

Friday

10pm - 5am: Onehundred & Elevated Presents Shell Sport at A38 ShipShell Sport was born out of two producers’ love for new-wave hip-hop and experimental trap. One half of the duo, GLXY, is a well-known figure in the Budapestian nightlife, but on this Friday, he will be joined by his partner in crime, and together they’ll debut their live project on the rooftop terrace of the A38 Ship. They are also the founders of the Keyworld squad, through which talented international producers can release their music – which usually ends up in the sets of Baauer, for example. So, get down!
Noon - 10pm: Hamburger Days at MillenárisBudapest’s beefiest festival, Hamburger Days, is back for the fourth time during June 23-26 at Millenáris. The main purpose of this event is to exhibit the city’s best burger joints to visitors, where you can taste any of them at one spot. Of course you can try the best handcrafted beers and pálinkas also, and there is live music on the stage all day, so fun for the weekend is guaranteed. But if that’s still not enough, we can reveal that there will be burger challenges and eating competitions too. Oh, and the entrance is free!

6pm - 11pm: Botellón – Friday night gatheringwith ZSIRÁF at Nyugati Railway Station Hurray Botellón! A pleasant gathering in town, with a straw between the lips, and straw hats on the heads, this time at Eiffel Square by the Nyugati Railway Station. In case of nice weather you can take over one of the pleasant spots of the city to talk, have fun, and meet new friends.

Botellón provides the music, glasses, and bins so you can all take care of the environment, too. You bring snacks, drinks, and fun to this free, non-profit gathering, that has only one aim: to have some fun!
8pm - : Taraf de Haidouks at Kobuci Kert What’s amazing about the music of Taraf de Haidouks is that even as the years go by, and even after participating in many different projects, their stage performances are still cheerful and personal. This music either puts a constant smile on your face, or makes your body vibrate. This effect is convincing because of the virtuosity that supports the ease of their performance.
11pm - noon: Proforma Presents Barac & Vid at Corvin Club Romanian producers tend to hide behind mysterious monikers, and this is exactly the case of Vid and Barac, too. Vid has been letting his music talk for him since 2012, relentlessly working under the pseudonyms Vid and Egal 3, while directing his label An|dromeda towards ever-more international fame.

Barac started his career at a radio station, where he received ample inspiration from different genres. Now he's one of the definitive artists connected to the Romanian sound, right next to Rhadoo, Pedro, and Raresh.

Their dynamic, atmospheric sets are crowd favorites in their respective fields, so don’t miss the chance to help them raze Corvin to the ground on the 24th of June! Saturday

10am - 6pm:

Hungarian Artists and the computer – The reconstruction of an exhibition
at Hungarian National Gallery Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Atari ST, IBM AT és XT, Commodore 64 – the computer artworks of the late 1980s in Hungary were made with these. This exhibition of the Hungarian National Gallery reconstructs the first time when the artists of this medium had their first debut abroad as a group in 1990, thus giving a comprehensive image of Hungarian computer art before the regime change. 11am - 5pm:

Budapest Photo Bazaar
at Central PassagePhoto Bazaar, held on June 25th, awaits all amateur, advanced, and professional photographers, as well as everyone who would like to buy or sell cameras and accessories. Besides the market, visitors can participate in workshops about recording, portrait photography, and nude photography, while retro fans can get their photo taken in a turn-of-the-century style.
2pm - 2am: Night of Museums at different venues More than 300 museums and exhibitors, as well as nearly 2,000 events, await hundreds of visitors over eight hours into the evening on June 25th, enabling culture enthusiasts to create unforgettable educational memories by moonlight. The organizers of this event series – which attracts more visitors with every passing year – have put a particular focus on the promotion of countryside venues and programs this year, with institutes in eight Hungarian towns outside Budapest awaiting visitors with concerts, fashion shows, artisanal activities, and special tours.

11pm - 2pm: CultUs & FACT Presents Ryan Elliott, Andre Buljat, Herr at Corvin ClubSpanish group FACT and Corvin Club together present a party on the 25th of June, with none other than Ryan Elliott! Hailing from Detroit, Elliott became famous on account of his refined and thoughtful DJ sets. Ranging from cold techno to summer house beats, he finds a perfect balance between edgy and elegant.
