Gergely Tomanovics captured the renovation of Budapest’s Széll Kálmán Square with a camera since the first moment to create a time-lapsevideo of it, titled Kalef365+. Thanks to the persistent cameraman, the refurbishment was continuously recorded from March of 2015 to its completion earlier this month, so now that the square is finished, a four-and-half-minute long time-lapse video presents the transfiguration process of the past 14 months.
Along with showing the transformation of the former Moszkva Square into today’s Széll Kálmán Square, the video also includes footage of the old Buda tram system that was turning in a loop, and sometimes it shows black-and-white pictures of the square’s history. The video demonstrates how much the square has changed – and starting from the end of May, we can watch this video as part of the temporary Kiscelli Museum exhibition titled “#moszkvater: The history of Széll Kálmán Square”.
