Craft beer has been getting a lot of attention lately, but even among the clichés we can find something truly worth talking about. Csupor is a new addition in the field of craft beer spots. It opened out of passion for the topic and to prove to the youngster of Budapest that hard work leads to success. Besides it never hurts to have a good beer in your hand.

What happens when enthusiastic young people return home from the Netherlands and sense that their could be some great possibilities in brewing their own beer, and not just for friends? Well, firstly, almost all of their beers become available in Budapest's better-known craft pubs; and secondly, they win a gold medal (overtaking nearly 600 other beers) at an international competition held in February in Dublin. But for this group, all this is still not enough. Recently they opened a place called Csupor, near the Arany János Street metro station.

The team consists of two Hungarians and a Dutch guy who are determined to set an example and inspire their guests with a few beers. As a result, even if just for a short time, it's like the world is saved every day.

The place does not say much at first glance. It's a smallish space, a third of which is occupied by bar counter. But this is kind of the point, because the bar is like an alter to beer, since the self-made craft beers and some well-known other brands all flow from here.

We tried the homemade beers, firstly the Thermo-STOUT (650/350 HUF) which is a Stout-type beer with rye flakes and a spicy but creamy taste and an alcohol content of 6.5 percent. The tasting continued with a Tántorgó ParIPA (700/400 HUF) which has a hops basis with a hint of citrus, orange and elderflower. The guys forced us to try another one - their latest recipe. This is called the Bunnyhop, with an American Citra base. It is a dark brown, almost black beverage.

We can drink another beer called "Hello, my name is Sudan" (750/450 EUR), which is named in honour of the world’s last male large-mouthed white rhino. This drink is a tribute to the label "Hello, my name is Vladimir."

We had to ask why all the beers have such silly names, but we were told: just because. And we're sure this trend will continue.

What is important is that you cannot sit down at Csupor. Aside from the fact that chairs wouldn't really fit, the owners are trying to create an atmosphere where guests socialise with each other and with them!

Afterall, everyone's welcome to join the fun!
