Sited at Kazinczy Street 21, it took less than a dozen months for Tesla to become an iconic club of downtown Budapest, and for its first birthday it hosts a grand celebration on December 18th, featuring resident DJs of the inner-city electronica hotspot. Tesla has gone through lots of changes in the past couple of months, and we caught up with the club manager and resident DJs Nigel Stately and Tamás Antal to ask them about the recent developments. Things are very much in the fine-tuning stage right now, but Friday’s fiesta will definitely showcase the best performers in the club’s arsenal.

Led by a new management team since summer, Tesla has gone through a major transformation over the past few months, and some of their future plans are already laid out as well. To uncover the details, we sat down for a chat with club manager Mátyás Brunda, and resident DJs Nigel Stately and Tamás Antal. Previously standing at the helm of Akvárium and A38, and being an organizer of several successful, Budapest-based e-music events, Mátyás started his career at Tesla with a complete overhaul of the club’s image, redesigning the logo and revamping the schedule of events.

In a bid to enhance the edgy locale’s event series, the team decided to stay out of the booking war fought for big international acts, and concentrate on local club sensations instead. That's how Tesla’s own team of residents was set up to provide clubgoers of the Magyar metropolis with top-notch entertainment week after week. Since September, Tesla hosts weekly club nights such as Friday Lust (with Tomi spinning the best vocal house and nu disco tunes), and Saturday’s MELT series stars Nigel, Meszi, and Moon.

The already iconic young nightclub will launch two brand-new projects in January: one of them will give a platform to up-and-coming DJs from abroad as well as some promising Hungarian acts, while the other will be a monthly affair with Moon behind the turntables. With the restructured schedule, Tesla aims to become a reliable venue for the best parties in town. Listing the elements necessary for achieving this goal, Nigel highlighted the exceptional sound technology, the unique layout of the DJ booth, and the professionalism of the new management.

There’s a lot to celebrate at Friday’s birthday bash, with DJ duos playing the hottest electronica tracks. Along with Nigel Stately & Goyah, Basics & IMMI V, Moon & Meszi, and the Used Disco duo, Tesla is going to turn up the heat with show dancers and fire jugglers from Ibiza. Fans won’t have to do without electronic beats during the holidays either: the dance floors will be open on December 25th and 26th, and the club will ring in the new year with a big party series lasting through January 2nd. You can start warming up by heading over to the club’s official SoundCloud profile.
