The winners of the European Festival Awards 2014 were announced this week in Groningen (Netherlands). And we're happy to announce that after its triumph in 2012, Sziget Festival has yet again won the Best Major Festival award at the European Festival Awards.

The Sziget affiliated festivals (for example Sziget Festival Republic,VOLT Festival,MasterCard Balaton Sound, and the flagship of Nagyon Balaton, B.my.Lake) were nominated in altogether 5 categories at the European Festival Awards 2014. All of the these festivals finished among the top 10 of their category.

At the gala event in Groningen, Sziget Festival was among the finalists in 3 categories, and like three years ago, the festival again won the grand prize at the most prestigious festival awards, the Best Major Festival prize. It snatched the title from events like Roskilde, Tomorrowland, Rock Werchter and Rock am Ring.

"It's unbelievable that we won this significant award for the second time in such a strong competition," said Sziget Festival's chief event planner, Károly Gerendai. He added that the improvements of recent years, including the expansion of services, the captivating spectacles, the cultural variety and the unique milieu created by the multinational nature of the event all contributed to Sziget consolidating its position as the best major festival in Europe.
