We can highly recommend a very special fair to induce some Christmas cheer, namely the Four Seasons Gresham Palace - the hotel featured in so many travel magazines and that regularly tops prestigious lists. The elegant palace, which combines elements of the Secession and Art Nouveau, is one of the most impressive institutions in Europe - not just as a hotel, but as an architectural masterpiece.
The discovery of such a magnificent hotel is unfortunately the guests’ privilege, so everyone jumps at opportunities that allow the common folk to wander around, as well. The first Gresham Palace advent fair is rather unconventional, but we hope that it will become a tradition, especially because everyone is welcome to visit. This year the exclusive Christmas bazaar runs until December 30. The Zrínyi Street gate of the hotel, decorated with golden lights, is open to those wanting to spread some Christmas spirit or just admire the building from the inside.
This fair is really atmospheric with red and white striped pavilions, under which handpicked sellers, who work mostly with Hungarian products and brands, display their beautiful wares. At Gresham’s Christmas fair, we can buy a pair of Pécsi gloves, get lost between the niche perfumes of Neroli Perfumery, admire the Herendi counter’s beautiful porcelains, or browse through the goods of Arioso. There is no advent fair without mulled wine and kürtőskalács, and fortunately we can find Vitéz Kürtős next to the gate, while Gresham’s own restaurant measures hot drinks from a kiosk. We also recommend tasting the unforgettable bejglis of Martha’s Cake Shop, made from almond flour. New exhibitors will be added week by week, including various designers and shops. There is no doubt that this season’s most exciting Advent fair takes place in Gresham Palace. Soon we will report about other, similar Christmas events, as well; but this is a great tip for those who want to try something special this year.
