We all know that feeling of the irresistible urge to eat French fries that occurs somewhere between a kinda good night out and fainting into bed. The question is: where to get some? Chips & Dips fills a gaping hole where Dob Street crosses with the party district, providing a place where you can dip croquettes, rösti, French fries and onion rings into more sauces than you can imagine!

A tipsy person is as happy to get their hands on some French fries as they were about that very first drink. Up until now, in that critical moment when a night out is drawing to a close, the most straightforward option has been crisps and other items from the 24 hour store, but now we can get hold of an even better alcohol sponge. On Dob Street - right where it crosses with the party district is Chips & Dips where there are several fried goodies to choose from and a wide range of dips available. Gratitude should be directed at the recently opened eatery for these delicious treats. Its name is already a mantra echoing along the street - for some mysterious reason, no one who passes it can resist saying the name out loud.To remain PC, this tiny spot is quite minimalistic, which means that it has neither decoration, nor chairs. This also sends a clear message: take away! The concept is perfect, since making rösti, onion rings and French fries into street food prevents congestions and keeps ruin pub tourists on the move.

The selection consists basically of three things. Firstly, something to dip, which could be fish’n'chips (990 HUF), calamari rings'n'chips (990 HUF), onion rings'n'chips (890 HUF), steak potatoes (550 HUF), croquettes (550 HUF), rösti (550 HUF) or chips ( 390 HUF). Secondly, sauces and dips, which include ketchup, mustard, sour cream, Milanese, Bolognese, mushroom-sour cream, Mexican and cheese cream. And thirdly: toppings such as sweet onions (200 HUF), roast bacon (250 HUF), cheese (200 HUF) or olives (250 HUF). As a peculiarity, the place also serves the famous Belgian Mittrailettes at 690 HUF. The place also displays prices in euros, making life easier for foreign ruin pub tourists enjoying the party district.

What hits us is that Chips & Dips is not ostentatious. Instead of artisan products, they work with deep-frozen ingredients, and instead of creating a trendy interior with bean bags, they have swapped good looks for efficiency and function. The goal is to eventually set up a chain of Chips & Dips joints. The owner explained that they would love to have tables and chairs but lack room, however, we don't think there is anything lacking and we like this place just the way it is.
