Budapest's transport centre, the BKK, has published some photos on its Facebook page of the new CAF trams proposed for Budapest. The final shine on these first few trams of the fleet took place in Zaragoza, Spain. According to plans, 47 of these new trams will operate on tram lines 1 and 3 early next year, while later in 2015 also on Buda's tram lines 19 and 61.
Pictures of
Budapest's future trams
have been published on the
BKK's Facebook page . The pictures were taken during a visit by CEO
Dávid Vitézy and reveal that the new trams have low floors, that they can be air-conditioned and heated, and are equipped with a system that indicates when trams are due to arrive in real time.
They also have security cameras, and they will not have the seats with the "footrest platforms" so hated by the passengers of Combinos.
The shorter version fits
up to 200 passengers with 46 seats, while the longer one will have capacity for 345 people, with a total of 81 seats. The CAF trams will join Budapest's transport network next year, with 47 vehicles on order.
