Budapest: Cultural space
In the recent years, Budapest became a city of street food and party revolutions as well as startup companies, and the Hungarian capital suddenly became a world-famous cultural space. This process inspired the Budapest Essentials city festival, which aims to deploy everything that makes the city what it is between the 29th of May and 1st of June, 2014: there'll be music, gastro, design, culture, Zoo, baths, and sightseeing. It's something that's never been done before. One of the festival's specialties is that its protagonists are places that are already part of Budapest's everydays as the result of people's ideas and hard work, and all greatly contributed to the city becoming one of the coolest places in Europe. These places will not compete with each other during the festival, but will join forces in order to cerate a unique image of Budapest.
Special Budapest-experience
Budapest Essentials aims to give people a special Budapest-experience that brings out the best of the city. Along the parties organized in entertainment venues (free entry with wristband), there'll be outdoor pop-up stages and we'll be able to party at unique places like the Great Market Hall or the szigetspicc. On the music scene we'll be able to find everything from jazz to techno; the list of performers include Yuksek, Alex Metric, Kraak & Smaak, Herbaliser, WhoMadeWho, Waze & Odyssey, Benoit & Sergio, Jazzanova, dBridge and the Shit Robot.
The organizers put together a quality line-up for the festival, which'll be able to move away from the mainstream and to serve all needs at the same time. This means that the performers are not superstars, but absolutely unique. In addition to the foreign artists, there's a strong Hungarian line-up as well, including the SoulClap Budapest, Random Trip, Hangmás, and so on.
However it's important to keep in mind that depending on the number of visitors, latecomers might not fit into a party. They'll have to move on to another location, but fortunately there'll be no place with nothing exciting going on.
Naturally, there'll be a bunch of other programs during the 4 days of Budapest Essentials apart from the parties: festival-goers will be able to, for example, visit the Zwack Factory and Prezi's offices, visit the Zoo and designer's studios for free, bathe, or visit the Museum of Fine Arts or the National Gallery. In addition, certain shops will offer special discounts for people with Budapest Essentials wristbands, but there'll be workshops, too, and the Bródy Studios will even offer temporary membership for the festival's participants. What else would we need?
Live the city!
Since the festival isn't for foreigners only, the organizers tried to establish ticket prices that even locals can afford. Which is great news, since people from Budapest and from elsewhere both love the city, and now they'll be able to experience it from a whole new perspective: they'll be able to become tourists at home.
