SoulClap's music is rooted in the jazz, soul, and funk of the 60s and 70s, which they mix with hop-hop tunes. The resulting concoction is a unique combination of modern electronic music and live instrumental music. The band, with smaller and bigger changes, has been around since the opening of Telep, where they step on the stage on Wednesdays as Soul on Top and bring something new to the table every single time.

SoulClap Budapest, established in the summer of 2010, is more than just a band.; it's more accurate to label it as a workshop. SoulClap is made up of a number of DJs and a live band, with all the members having their individual projects. Their preferred genre is instrumental music, but they often feature guest MCs. Their music is rooted in the jazz, soul, and funk of the 60s and 70s, which they mix with hop-hop tunes. The resulting concoction is a unique combination of modern electronic music and live instrumental music..

SoulClap currently has the following members: Fanni Zahár(flute), Tamás Heilig(bass), Levente Boros (drums), Szabolcs Bognár (keyboard), András Őrsi (DJ), Bálint Zsigri (sampler), István Tanka(DJ), and the honorary members are: Songoro Fatime (sax), Eliza Köles (vocals). All of them are talented, enthusiastic musicians who want to have a good time and all the while add something new to the Budapestian music scene.

The band, with smaller and bigger changes, has been around since the opening of Telep, where they step on the stage on Wednesdays as Soul on Top and bring something new to the table every single time. The only problem is that they have to keep the volume down, otherwise they would disturb the residents in the surrounding apartments; but fortunately, thanks to masterful sound technicians, their music sounds great even without being ear-blastingly loud. The group puts great emphasis on quality, so they only use vinyls, and being the perfectionists they are, each SoulClapper pays attention to even the most minute details with the precision of an engineer.

Recently, SoulClap have been working on their first album, but for now, you'll have to settle with their vinyls, one of which was released under the title UnderHUNdred Cuts (a mixtape of Freakyhouse, SoulClap Budapest, and their friends' songs) thanks to the sponsorship of Vinylzine; which also sponsored the debute single of the contribution entitled SoulClap Budapest x Illspokinn'. You can purchase the single here, and the debut album mentioned above - recorded with Illspokinn' from Brooklyn - will soon be released.
