As we mentioned earlier, street food is a flourishing business nowadays in Budapest. The diversity of these places makes it really difficult to come up with brand new ideas, so the international cuisine started to appear in the market as well. A perfect example of this is The Burrita Bar, which is located right next to the padthai wokbar. The Burrita Bar gives you the well-known Mexican dish, burritos in a cool, modern way.

Pure MexicoBefore we get into discussing the wrapped meat and veggies, let’s spare a few words about the interior. We would not associate the snow white walls, the black apparels and the pure design (which by the way reminded us a lot about padthai) with a food place in Mexico City, however in the Október 6. utca, which also has KNRDY, it may sound a bit of a false hope.

The friendly signs (We love you having here), the catchy lines (If you’re waiting for a sign, this is it) and the simple Apple-like funny graphics (the kissing donkeys, the senor, who is chasing his senorita, the mariachi with his sombrero) are all over the place, and this design gives a fresh and modern atmosphere to the restaurant. The result is likeable, only a bit impersonal, but if the walls would be full with pictures of Oliver Kahn and rising economical statistics, we might believe we are in the middle of a cool German-like beer and sausage place.Roll your tortilla up

This place will deliver your burrito faster, than Speedy Gonzalez, but the meat and the vegetables are not brought from all the way from South America, they come freshly every day from the fields of Hungarian farmers. The owners don’t forget about the environment either, according to their plans the little baskets for your burrito will be made from sugarcane, and they will use recycled materials for the paper cups.

You can find 3 main dishes (burrito, burrito bowl, tacos) from 4 different options, (chicken steak, beef carnitas, pork fajitas, vegetarian) with 3 kind of salsa sauces, (good to know, the hottest one may cause serious burn injury) and 7 ingredientos, which come for free. They also offer a daily soup, (when we were there they had cheese cream soup with jalapeno) Mexican salad, and chips with either salsa or guacamole.

The burrito was stuffed and filling, the soup was fresh and spicy, but the prices were not as tough as the bodyguards of the Scarface. We’ve got to give them the credit, so viva la Burrita Bar, we only missed the grit from Danny Trejo’s tattoos in this fancy downtown area.
