When we enter Szerpentin Szalon, the feeling of idyll immediately floods into our veins, mixed with the delicious aroma of coffee, the pleasant sound of classical music, and the antiquities we discover even before we get into the shop. When we realize that the unique café is the accomplished dream of two cousins, we just want to know more about it. The shop is a perfect choice for some rest after a visit in the Castle, or just to get some cheap souvenirs or desired treasure in the Hunyadi Street.

So close, so farNóra and Monika went as far as possible to achieve their dream; yet, they stayed close to the home where they grew up. They just found the place under the number of 23/A on Hunyadi Street this spring, but they didn’t waste any time and opened their shop this May. Most of the items are heritages, so there are pieces from the 19. century, turn of the century, the 60’s and the 70’s as well.

All the things we see in the café are for sale so can even buy the cup in which we got our coffee. Moreover, there are plans for a catalogue in order to make the picking easier.
We can look for furniture from the 1800’s, as well as books, jewels, or postcards for only a few hundred Forints. This place won’t fit you if you are an antique dealer looking to earn a living. However, you should definitely visit if you'd like to buy a piece of history, a bit of retro, and don't mind looking at the objects as "used", rather than art or antiquity.

The coffee that fits inThe bus number 16 is the perfect choice to get there; you just have to take off at Donáti Street, right the way to the Matthias Church. In the summertime there is also a terrace that signs the place where you can buy a great cappuccino (350 HUF), which is made of L’antica coffee. The brand of the Italian coffee-professor perfectly matches to the porcelain cups and is delicious, of course. The options for wine and beer are few, but well selected and we don’t have to be afraid of the regular prices near to the Castle.

We can get a dl wine of the Bolyki-winery for 350 HUF, a handmade beer from Fót for 550 HUF, and some snacks on a solid price. Muffin for 250 HUF, croissant for 200 HUf, and some salty baguette for 200 HUF.

From Lake Balaton to Hong KongMonika is collecting and vending antiquities for a long time. She has a stand in Káptalantóti, near to Balaton and also worked as a sales manager in Budapest, but her dream could only come true with the Szerpentin.
They make a perfect fellowship with Nóri and they constantly work on their future plans. They know that enthusiasm of the European, Asian, and American tourists will end up one day, and than they have to focus on the Hungarian audience even more.

They have many customers right now as well, which they thank with 50 HUF discount on coffee.

There is a chance that the girls will organize poetry readings in the shop, which is not a surprise, the place is ideal with its tasteful wines and old-redolent books; all we will need are a few good men!
