This year’s AT Xmas (Gift Terminal), the annual Christmas fair of Design Terminal, has three goals. First and foremost, it aims to popularize the works of Hungarian designers. Secondly, it tries to pull paserssby into the parallel reality of contemporary arts, this time around with Christmas goodies. And, last not least, it looks to serve as a peaceful nook where you can slow down and tune out the gift shopping pogo of Váci Street and downtown Budapest.

Take a look around!Between 8 December 2012 and 23 December 2012, Design Terminal morphs into a spectacular winter time showroom, where a hundred Hungarian designers will exhibit their creations, and a one-of-a-kind selection of jewellery, pieces of furniture, clothes, articles for personal use, and children’s goodies will also be available. The latter category seems to be the spearhead of AT Xmas (Gift Terminal) with heaps of plush toys, fairy tale books, tiny stools usable as treasure chests, clothes, and other unique bric-a-bracs.

This year’s artist line-up includes Dóra Abodi, Dóra Konstánszky, Áron Losonczi, Réka Vágó, Artista, The Béta Version, Folqa, Hannabi, IVANKA, INER, Je Suis Belle, Lokalwear, Medence Group, MIMM, Nubu, and Pos1t1on. Most products originate straight from the artist without the involvement of a third party, so prices are rather wallet-friendly.

Charity and designEach exhibiting artist donates an item to a charity auction, which will take place on 12 December from 19.00 at Design Terminal. The auction’s whole income will be offered to Semmelweis University Children’s Clinic’sofficial foundation called ŐRZŐK (Guardians). The foundation’s priority has always been to guarantee and maintain the ideal healing circumstances for children fighting with cancer or leukemia.

An enjoyable scheduleOn 13 December from 19.00, holiday fun will be provided by DEMO NODE Audiovisual Workshop’s experimental light show sprinkled with various tunes. Gombold újra! (Re-Buttoned! Fashion Day), an event centered around fashion, make-up, and hairstyle tips given to customers spending at least 8,000 HUF, will also be organized with contributions from stylist Anna Kovalik, make-up artist Natasa Kovalik, and photographer István Várfi.

Re-Buttoned! Fashion Day's gist perfectly symbolizes the essence of AT Xmas, and also proves that this rarely-seen, design-centric, costumer-friendly Christmas fair is for those in search of an enjoyable shopping experience that’s not only about pushing and shoving and reckless money spending.
