Budapest Spring Fair to be set up on the Danube Promenade
Alfresco Hungarian cuisine and handcrafted local merchandise await at the annual Budapest Spring Fair. For 2019, this popular outdoor bazaar moves to the Danube Promenade, while its regular location nearby, Vörösmarty tér, is being refurbished. The event takes place between 5 and 28 April.
The panoramic Danube Promenade will be the new location for the Budapest Spring Fair. Opening a month from now, the Spring Fair will set up near the Pesti Vigadó, a short walk from its usual spot on central Vörösmarty tér currently under renovation. Stalls along the Pest riverbank will offer Hungarian folk art and design products, including manifold knickknacks for Easter.
Concerts, art shows, folk music, dance and traditional egg-decorating activities all take place on stage. Staples integral to local cuisine feature at the gastronomy station, proffering treats such as roast lamb and stuffed cabbage.
For more springtime fun, the festival spreads across the city centre and additional stalls will be set up at Fővám tér by the Great Market Hall, focal Deák tér and Városháza Park, the open space adjacent to the terminus of airport bus 100E. Városháza Park will also be the centre of children’s activities and workshops.
With an accent on greenery, contemporary landscaping and public charging points, main Vörösmarty tér is currently undergoing a major revamp. Due for completion before this September, the renovation will see new trees planted and the Lion Fountain shifted from its current location on the square. Read more about the project here.
