Hungarian folk dance to accompany dinner at Araz Budapest

Whirling skirts and stomping boots are being paired with Hungarian bean soup and Gundel pancakes for a new gastronomic event hosted by Budapest hotel restaurant Araz. Every Friday from 8 March, this downtown dining destination will be offering guests a fully fledged folk-dance show, introducing foreign visitors to Hungarian culture.

Presented by the Hungarian FolkEmbassy to promote the nation’s rich musical heritage, a 20-minute dance performance will provide Araz guests with a taste of local tradition from early March. Set at the gateway of Budapest’s party vortex, this restaurant within the Art-Nouveau Continental Hotel Budapest is where popular baths complex, Hungária Fürdő, once attracted local residents with mineral-laced waters.

Today, instead of swimsuit-clad soakers, smartly garbed diners frequent this historic site to enjoy Araz gastronomy, now featuring smoked sausages, duck liver and goose leg alongside a real Hungarian hootenanny. The 12,500-forint admission includes unlimited consumption from the buffet spread, a welcome glass of sparkling wine, water, coffee and three glasses of Hungarian wine, beer or a soft drink.
