Budapest’s latest exclusive entertainment complex is now open on Dohány utca, awaiting guests with five high-tech escape games, a VR playroom, a bar and soon, a restaurant. Neverland is mysterious, unique, has great potential and is the best place for a fun time with friends.

What makes a great place can depends on a lot of things, but if time just flies by unnoticed, that’s surely a good sign. This is what happens at the latest place to open on Dohány utca, Neverland, a centre of contemporary entertainment over 750 square metres. There are altogether five room escape games (two of them pretty high-tech), a VR playroom, a bar and restaurant area, plus a separate rentable room stacked with cigars, whisky and all kinds of exclusive trappings.

As Neverland is quite mysterious, even getting inside is exciting. Arriving at Dohány utca 22-24 feels like being at the reception of an old motel. Worry not, this is the right place, so we suggest ringing the old-school bell on the counter and just stepping inside.

Downstairs, there is an exclusive, fully renovated basement with each little area decorated in a different style. There are many tables around, so you can choose to sip a glass of whisky, a cocktail or something from the drinks list, in Baroque surroundings or amid neon signs.

They will soon serve food as well, and although we could not try anything from the menu yet, we can reveal that the focus will be on street food. The aim of the owners here is to enhance the experience of escape-room games: a place where you can not only play, but then celebrate your victory afterwards with food, drinks and friends. This works the other way around as well; if you come here for dinner and drinks but feel like a game, provided there is a free room, the floor is all yours. The rooms are available until 1am.

The games were created by the team at PanIQ Room, who have been in the business for years in Hungary and abroad, too. At the moment there are three, and in the future there will be five different games (3,500 forints/person) here. Your 60 minutes can start in a prison cell, in a sheriff’s office or in the padded cell of an asylum, where solving real-life riddles takes you closer to the solution. Groups from two people to seven are welcome.

Neverland is spacious and a great place to gather with friends and family. The lifelike décor was designed by a team from the Opera House.
