Starting today, Thursday November 30th, you can take a sparkling ride through the Hungarian capital – and all for the price of a regular transport ticket of 350 forints. Until the first week of January, during this merriest of seasons, a special Christmastime carriage enhances the cityscape as it glides along the tramlines of Budapest. Anyone holding a regular public-transport ticket or pass can hop aboard this distinct Yuletide vehicle festooned with thousands of snow-white and blue-colored LED lights. The glittering streetcar serves several lines in both Buda and Pest, including the Danube-hugging number 2, frequently cited as the world’s most panoramic tram journey.

Get your camera ready while you are out and about in Hungary’s capital. Beginning on November 30th, a glowing streetcar will be zipping along Budapest’s tramlines, adding to the Christmas spectacle. Adorned with 40,000 bright LED lights, this Ganz UV-type vintage model from the 1960s will serve a dozen Budapest routes, including scenic tram 2 running along Pest’s Danube bank and tram 41 that follows the river on the opposite Buda side.
