There are always so many happenings to choose from in Budapest – exhibitions, parties, live music, festivals, performances, and more – but here is our pick of the bunch for the imminent 72 hours or so:
4pm - 10pm: Daalarna Fashion Show at Millenáris
On Friday, Daalarna presents its new “Paradise” collection of breathtakingly beautiful wedding dresses that all show a close connection with nature through sophisticated and sleek designs, silk, lace, and tulle elements. Soon-to-be-brides and everyone else who is a princess at heart can see the fashion show twice on Friday, at 4pm and at 8pm.
8pm - 4am: Latin Meets Funky at Auróra
On Friday night, four bands mix and mingle the musical culture of multiple continents: Polish swing will be shaken up with Latin rhythms, Hungarian folk songs will be spiced up with a Spanish guitar, while South American sounds will be played by polyphonic wind instruments at Auróra Budapest.
10pm - 5am: Sascha Braemer – Budapest Calling & Truesounds at TEREM
The renowned Berlin-based electronica DJ Sascha Braemer always charms his audience with dynamic grooves, catchy rhythms, and explicit emotions. This time, he takes everyone on a musical journey at TEREM Budapest on Friday. More details
11pm - 5am: Balcony TV Budapest Over and Out at Toldi Klub
After three long years, Balcony TV Budapest – Hungary’s only weekly musical channel that recorded nearly 150 music videos featuring beautiful Budapest panoramas – bids farewell with a memorable party on March 10th, featuring popular Hungarian musicians like ByeAlex és a Slepp, Ricsárdgír band, and Apey at Toldi Club. 11pm - 6am: Black Mamba presents: Matador at Akvárium Klub
A few years ago, British music producer Gavin Lynch, aka Matador, burst into fame at Europe’s major clubs and party hubs. On March 10th, he brings his best techno tracks to Budapest. More details
11am - 6pm: DIP Design Passage at Central Passage
On Saturday, springtime’s first DIP design fair warmly welcomes everyone to this passage near Király Street, where several Hungarian designers proffer pieces of their wonderful winter collections with generous discounts. Browse cool clothes, accessories, bags, and other trinkets all afternoon while getting ready for some sweet sunshine.
7:30pm - : Alexandre Tharaud and the Cuarteto Casals at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music
On Saturday evening, French pianist Alexandre Tharaud and Spanish string quartet Cuarteto Casals fill the Music Academy’s magnificent Grand Hall with beautiful pieces by Beethoven and Shostakovich.
11pm - 6am: MadCity in Turquoise at Corvin Club
On Saturday night, Corvin Club dresses up in all shades of turquoise, as Mad City holds their next event in their party series here, filling the beloved party hub with serious house and techno sets by renowned resident DJs like thedunaj, Gra3o, and Woody Woodpekker.
11pm - 4am: Pardon My French – Lapidem (FR) at Gozsdu Manó Klub
French DJ Lapidem brings the biggest electronic hits from France to Gozsdu Manó Klub on Saturday, where timeless tracks by Daft Punk, Yuksek, and Kavinsky entice all electronica lovers to the dance floor.
11pm - 7am: Raktár.Klasszik at Raktár Klub
Budapest’s dazzling downtown club, Raktár Klub, “returns to its roots” every Saturday with rowdy revelries evoking a cozy house-party atmosphere. Week after week, Raktár Klub is packed with city dwellers who dance the night away together, while the bartenders serve vodka on tap and a great lineup of DJs spins records all night long.
11pm - 5am: Wannabe – Best of ’90s & ’00s at VOLT Lokál
Those who have a ton of nostalgia for the ’90s, and those who really want to “zig-a-zig-ah”, can venture into the pop goldmine of VOLT Lokál on Saturday night, and dance to those awkward pop hits we all still love late into the night.
10am - 6pm: Vegan Sunday Market X Kristóf Steiner at Anker’t
A small vegan market is held each month at Anker’t ruin pub, warmly welcoming followers of a vegan or healthy lifestyle with countless salubrious treats. Pamper your taste buds with wonderful vegan produce purchased at this market, and meet new people at this cool community center. This time, the market’s special guest will be Kristóf Steiner, who awaits all visitors with three exciting culinary workshops. More details
10am - 6pm: WAMP Design Fair at Millenáris
On Sunday, various shades of green, fragrant flowers, and a springtime atmosphere brighten up the gray everydays at Millenáris, where visitors can explore the connection between nature and design by browsing beautiful bouquets, eco-friendly clothes, salubrious snacks, and other “green” goods, while meeting designers who can provide a few tips, tricks, and products for a healthy lifestyle.
7pm - : Anthrax – Among The Kings Tour at Barba Negra Music Club
The legendary American trash-metal band Anthrax celebrates its 35th birthday this year. However, 2017 is a special year for them anyway, as their popular album, “Among The Living”, was recorded in 1987, exactly 30 years ago. Hence, on this special Sunday at Barba Negra Music Club, they play the whole album from beginning to end for all of Budapest’s Anthrax fans. More details
7pm - : A38 Night/Life presents: Night Lovell (CA), Nico Adomako (DE), Glxy at A38
One of the biggest talents of cloud rap, the only-20-year-old rapper-producer Night Lovell – often referred to as the next Travis Scott – comes to Budapest on Sunday for the first time, to throw an unforgettable party aboard A38.
5pm - 8pm: Gandhi at the Bem Cinema
The epic 1982 biographical film Gandhi – which won a total of eight Academy Awards – dramatizes the incredible life story of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the leader of India’s nonviolent, noncooperative independence movement against the United Kingdom’s rule of the country during the 20th century. On Sunday, the film screens with original English audio and Hungarian subtitles at Bem Cinema.
