Negyed6Negyed7 Festival

2011. 12. 27.

Between 20 and 28 December you can experience the everyday wonders which surpass the ethnic, religious and cultural differences and make the eight days of Hanukkah the common celebration of love and light in the former Jewish district of downtown Budapest. This is what the participating 18 cultural squares also believe in, housing the eight-day-long cultural and musical programs and thus creating a never-before-seen cooperation in the city.

This year’s the third to see Budapest’s largest cultural festival on Hanukkah’s eight days with the cooperation of the public places, places of entertainment and cultural centers of the Jewish district.
The holiday of light coincides with Christmas this year, so the myriad of programs will be more colorful than ever. There’s Chrismukkah fair, street programs, musical programs from world music to electronica, exhibitions, city tours and reading nights.

The aim of the organizers this year is to draw the attention to the unfortunate happenings and decisions related to the cultural sphere (and thus the district especially). They intend to create such a cooperation that shows how significant role spaces of creation and even places of entertainment play in the life of the district, and that craftmanship and artistic life has a great influence, too.
