DiVino - one of the best wine bars

2011. 07. 12.

DiVino winebar is a very special place at Budapest's wine loving heart. OK, it is great to see a new wine bar in town, but this one offers a LOT more than a usual winebar experience.

In our Top 10 wine bars article you could’ve read about our favorites, DiVino was also highlighted as the best new opening. But what about this place that we love so much?

DiVino presents the wines of the Junibor producers, the association of the young Hungarian winemakers. The Junibor Association typically unites the second generation of the big Hungarian winemaker dynasties and those young producers who have recently evolved to the frontline. You can taste Hungarian wines only and don’t be surprised if your glass is refilled by Csaba Miklos or Tibor Gal himself. The specialty about DiVino is that every other week a different winemaker is put to the spotlight, enjoying full attention. In addition to this the chef of DiVino composes varying dishes to the changing wine-lineup besides the permanent selection of little bites. The personal presence of these winemakers make wine tasting even more intimate, easygoing and it gives an insight to the whole production process, while enjoying a fine way of drinking.

The atmosphere is just perfect, we can’t even describe, you have to see it for yourself. Designers cautiously dug deep into current bar-design trends, considering youngsters’ needs as well. The main color is black, what dominates is naturalism provided by the stylish harmony of pine tree and concrete.

So briefly in a couple of words: hot summer night, crowd at the square, lights of the Basilica, Vespa, cheerful people, colorful skirts and hats, the best moment at the best place. If you’re (or plan to be) a frequent visitor, apply for a wine-passport and try out every Hungarian wine region, collect stamps and eventually you’ll be able to win some valuable prizes.

Be a wine lover, a member of the audience, get amazed by the monumentality of the Basilica, so fall in love with Di Vino this summer! And if it closes, just head out to the neighboring Ötkert!
