Driving in Hungary is not as difficult as people would think. Hungary has an excellent, logically planned road system that connects the country with all its neighbors. The system is built up of three types of roads: motorways are marked with the letter M, national highways are numbered single digit and secondary roads are marked with double or triple digits. If you want to use the motorway system (marked with M), you would have to pay a toll.
Tickets can be bought at petrol stations but you will not get any stickers - the automatic system immediately registrates your plate number and you’re free to go. Car rental in Hungary is an easy process as there are lots of different car rental services that provide you virtually every type, size and model. Most services speak fluent English and they offer various extra services like 0-24 car delivery but their services differ greatly, so you should check out their sites for further information.
Different they might be, the basics are the same everywhere: in order to rent a car, you will need a drivers’ license, an ID card, a caution of roughly 100.000 Forints and a credit card.
