In search of Budapest’s house numbers
Zsolt Molnár, or Zsutti, took up a very draining pursuit years back: he rode 3000 kilometers in search for the most peculiar house numbers of the city. The result is a photo project titled 365Budapest. As a lover of typography, photography and bicycling he published the latest house numbers of the city each day for a year, revealing a great deal of special ones doing so. The man, who works as an art director, devotes his spare time to unveiling Budapest’s secrets and planning further compilations, that is, if he doesn’t revel in the quiet of dawn in Heroes’s Square or idle at his favorite place, Kerepesi Cemetery.
Be a Coolturist! - 5th of May is the day of Cooltourism!

Hungarian anti-image videos
It’s not easy to make image videos for countries or cities. It should create a certain atmosphere while being informal. It's meant to present some attractions but without the use of too much clichés. It should be easily understandable but avoid being too didactic. Many amateurs and professionals have tried to make one. What follows is a compilation of some indeed poor attempts, though there must be even worse out there. If you have a favorite, do send it to us in your comment. We want to have some fun, too.
The celebration of 100-year-old buildings on the weekend

Naplás-tó and its vicinity
Budapest is not famous for its green areas and sites to make excursions to, but there are definitely some possibilities for a getaway from the concrete jungle. Naplás-tó (Lake Naplás) and its vicinity is a perfect example, where you can even broaden your knowledge besides taking some rest.
What’s new in the zoo?
Towards the end of November the arrival of the two Tasmanian wombats stirred up quite some feelings, while in February the birth of the baby giraffe created a buzz in the press. Christmas Vörösmarty-style
“How fine that the weather’s gettin’ cold ‘cause people may start to realize that Christmas is upon us.” – said one of the merchants at Vörösmarty Square alluding to this year’s number of visitors jokingly. For so far it was only at weekends when the atmosphere was as warm as the weather cold. From Friday to Sunday there were quite a lot visitors at the 13th Christmas Fair at Vörösmarty Square but weekdays have yet to see crowds of people. Still, there is no reason to worry as we’ve got a whole month until the deadline to get all the presents.

Boulevards, libraries, et cetera

WeLoveBudapest chose to love Badacsony for once
Putting a little distance between us and the capital and making use of the warmness the autumn sun gave us during the weekend, we visited the Badacsony, the wine region north of Lake Balaton. Our mission? To find the best wineries, to sleep at the most exquisite accommodations, and to taste the most characteristic wines of the region. Accomplished? Read on, and see it for yourself!
All the way to Buda!
As fall gets ever chillier we decided to head out to Buda to visit our old favorites discovering some excellent new places along the way. Not to mention the other benefit of getting exhausted together with the kid as you push the pram up on long slopes. Our destination this time was the Margit Bridge-Széll Kálmán Square-Batthyány Square triangle.
Photo series of Budapest by a traveler-photographer
He’s seen numerous countries, and knows no bounds when it comes to traveling. As soon as the opportunity comes up he sets out into the big world. We asked György about his photo series of Budapest, and what his favorite subject is in the Hungarian capital, provided he doesn’t roam his eternal love, India.
A park and an island…
…what do they have in common? We mean Margit Island and the Városliget (literally translated as the City Park)? We are talking about the city’s largest green areas and children’s favorite places to spend time. Both locations offer opportunities to meet animals. The City Park is home to the Zoo, while Margit Island hosts its little brother the Wildlife Park.
Budapest with kids
We will examine Budapest district by district through both an adult’s eye as well as that of a child. Our goal is to refute the assumption that there are limited activities and site seeing for families. Experienced mum, Veronika Sifter, will tell us how to plan our family breakfast, which playground to choose for an afternoon of fun, where to go for a hike and which spot to select to hit at the end of the day.

We are sitting in Károly Bugár-Mészáros’ cool office, who is the director of the Hungarian Museum of Architecture. There are 150-year old maps unfolded in front of us on the desks, old paintings, and portraits on the walls. We are able to touch history here. We start our interview series about the famous historical places of Budapest here, and our first issue is the past, present and future of Andrássy Avenue.
