The 8th district beyond the Grand Boulevard has a much worse reputation. We arrive to another world after leaving the clean rows of houses of the boulevard. There are cobblestone streets, dilapidated houses like in a scene of a war movie. Probably this is the reason, why many film directors choose this neglected area for shooting. The ethnic composition of the neighborhood is very colorful. There are hundreds of Gypsy, Chinese, Arabian and Vietnamese families living together with people from many other nations. If you would like to leave the so-called ‘tourist-path’ for a short walk or a few tram stops, you will experience some kind of real adventure. We recommend discovering the biggest Chinese market of Budapest for the brave ones only. You need not worry about your safety because cameras are checking every single square meter of Józsefváros since 2000, so prostitution and crime is almost eliminated.
