The Museum of Fine Arts was built by the plans of Albert Schickedanz and Fülöp Herzog in an eclectic-neoclassical style, between 1900 and 1906. The museum's collection is made up of international art (rather than Hungarian), including all periods of European art, and comprises of more than 120,000 pieces. There are various older additions such as those from Buda Castle, the Esterhazy and Zichy estates, as well as donations from individual collectors. Visitors can marvel at pieces by such masters as Raphael, El Greco, Toulouse-Lautrec, Chagall, Velázquez, Rembrandt, Tiepolo, Goya, Manet, Monet and Cézanne, to mention but a few. You can find six departments in the museum: Egyptian, Antique, Old sculpture gallery, Old painter gallery, Modern collection, Graphics collection.
