Near, far – wherever you are
The dairy of Kapuvár managed to take over Cserpes Cheese Manufacture, it got hold of Cserpes Trudi and they established a trading system that includes more than 700 retailers. On the 1st June another dream came true for them; they opened their first milk bar on Sütő Street. It could’ve been a simple café, an ordinary bistro or just a regular place where you can have breakfast at but instead Cserpes became the combination of these three with a very specific goal; they want to revive an old tradition. The founders wanted to create a place that offers great fresh milky drinks (made from actual milk, not artificial), a place where you can enjoy fresh baked goods from 8am to 10pm. The timing of the opening and the location of the place are just perfect. Many of the locals were already familiar with the tastes of Cserpes, but the neighbourhood was lacking a snack bar that offers such tasty and delicious treats. The offer of Cserpes Cheese Manufacture is almost perfect; we were only missing a few things.
From cows with love
Besides the award-winning rudi, the kapuvári cheeses and yogurts, there are sandwiches, salads and fruit cups as well. Different menu offers are available; the most pocket friendly one comes with a piece of baked goods and a cup of coffee and costs 390 forints. The sandwich with mangalica salami and sausage is so filling that it could be an ideal choice for lunch. The kapuvári dairy receives its supplies from local farmers and from local dairy-farms; there are supplier families who only have one single cow for example. Other ingredients, besides the milk, are also provided by Hungarian manufacturers and farmers so the mangalica meat, the veggies and the fruits are Hungarian as well. The chocolate of Trudi is made in Szerencs, the túrós bugyor (a baked good with sweet cottage cheese) and the rongyos kifli (a crescent from puff pastry) are made in the Cserpes Cheese Manufacture and they are baked right under Cserpes Milk Bar, in a small bakery. The baked good offer changes from day to day – when a cake or a cookie reaches at least 99% of perfection, then it’s time to move on to the next delicious treats.
Milk design
From the outside the shop seems to be very nice and it has a lovely and authentic feel to it. The tasty delicacies are sort of alluring so it’s hard to resist going in. The only rather surprising thing is that when you enter you see quite a bit of crowd behind the counter. The number of the staff doubled after only one day of being open, which means that there are three employees who serve the goods and three others who work at the bakery. The bakery, or the workshop if you’d rather call it like that, is right under the milk bar and it is a super secret place. Because of security and hygienic reasons we cannot even get a sneak peek at what’s going on behind the doors, no matter how curious we are. The restrooms on the other hand are available and you should check them either you have to use them or not. Csaba Rokob from Sign creative designs created the interior with owner István Cserpes, and they made sure that the interior won’t let you forget where you are. You can enjoy your smooth cocoa or your shake, you can have your favourite baked goods and you can relax on the colourful furniture at the same time in the two-storey milk bar.
