Easter programs in the country

The biggest prize this Easter will undoubtedly be a Racka, a special, Hungarian breed of sheep. If you go to Ópusztaszer, you can win it. Of course, the other settlements throughout the country offer enough attractions, should you feel like spending the upcoming weekend-Easter combo further away from the bustling of Budapest. The programs include, among others, Racka sheep pageant, hitting and rolling of eggs, running of rabbits, sprinkling poem competition and daddy-son, mommy-daughter competitions. The real countryside sprinkling is surely something to be expected, so, ladies, watch out!

Skanzen – 8-9 April 2012
Easter pageant

An unusual pageant will take place on Easter Monday at Skanzen. The Rackas will battle for the title of the beauty queen. At the Easter-garden games of egg-catching, egg-rolling and egg-hitting will be organized and at the Gameyard the visitors can take part in real curiosities of sport and agility games of the country.

Wines, puppets, rabbits

István Dobó Castle Museum has been organizing its events revolving around Easter since 2004. This year’s will also live up to the expectations of providing enough recreation for the whole family. Children will be happy to participate in handicraft workshops, stroke rabbits and sit through puppet shows, whereas adults can enjoy quality Eger wines.

Easter Matyó-style

 

Saturday will kick off the Matyó Easter in Mezőkövesd. Come to take part at the auction of ornamented ostrich eggs or the exhibition of Easter eggs. The hungry can have Easter specialties, while wine-lovers can quench their thirst with wines from Bükkalja. The fair will be an endless repository of folklore products.

Easter Bunny parade


An Easter Bunny train will depart from in front of the Town Hall to Tihanyi Családi Szabadidőpark (Family Recreation Park) at 3 PM on Easter Sunday. If you spend your Sunday at the Park, you can, among others, rent a rabbit, paint faces, roll eggs with a broom or balance a red egg.

It’s the third time Siófok has organized the Easter Festival, where a number of musical performances will entertain those interested. Fair, animal stroking, facepainting and many other programs await people intending to spend their Easter at the Balaton holiday resort.

Egg search in the village


The teams will seek down the eggs hidden around the settlement. One can even help out with the baking of cakes at the Farmhouse and children can have some fun in the playhouse erected in the garden or play folk games.

“If it’s Easter, then it’s Hollókő!”

 

The streets of the tiny settlement are flooded by artisans, who let you in on the tricks of their trade, such as those of eggpainting. During the festival folk concerts, folk dance performances, handicraft presentations, fairs and children’s plays will be there to pick from.

For the first time in history, the finder of the hidden golden egg will be awarded an extraordinary prize, a Racka.
