Easter programs in Budapest
Another long weekend is coming, this time brought by the Easter Bunny. Colorful eggs, the scent of perfume and programs for kids and adults alike will be everywhere around the city. Thanks to Easter you won’t be bored this next weekend even if you don’t plan on going to the country for some traditional Easter fun or if you come to Budapest for the three-day weekend. Everyone will find the most suitable program whether they’re children, adults, big families or a couple. What’s more, organizers have even thought about babies under 1 year of age, as well.
Easter programs in the country
The biggest prize this Easter will undoubtedly be a Racka, a special, Hungarian breed of sheep. If you go to Ópusztaszer, you can win it. Of course, the other settlements throughout the country offer enough attractions, should you feel like spending the upcoming weekend-Easter combo further away from the bustling of Budapest. The programs include, among others, Racka sheep pageant, hitting and rolling of eggs, running of rabbits, sprinkling poem competition and daddy-son, mommy-daughter competitions. The real countryside sprinkling is surely something to be expected, so, ladies, watch out!

Budapest Timelined
Budapest is a city that changes day after day after day. Every park, street and square bears the marks of history, the destruction of war and the eclectic nature of rebuilding. Read on for stills from the bygone century and pictures of buildings from the here and now.
In search of ashtrays in Budapest
Starting from January 1 it is prohibited to smoke indoors in pubs, clubs and other places of entertainment. This means three things: it’s forbidden to smoke, you’d do it better if you wouldn’t smoke or go ahead, have a cigarette. Until April 1 the places can freely choose from the above interpretations but as that fateful day passes fines will be collected. Fines from the smokers and fines from those letting them smoke.
Deluge of drinks for the New Year’s Eve
Not more than a couple of days have passed since the Christmas turkey, stuffed cabbage and dishes of fish the preparation for a weekend of party and excess, that is New Year’s Eve, is due after the holiday of intimacy. Traditional food and drinks come after the other on this night but the most dominating of all are the party bites and the pig made to perfection.
Wow, wombats in Budapest!

What pálinka can’t heal, nothing can!
Having warmed both our hearts and bodies we left the fifth Palinka and Sausage Festival in the Buda Castle we visited this past weekend. Despite the bitter weather conditions the atmosphere was really pleasant and the event was extremely well organized. One might say it has ripened. Since last year’s was a full house festival, the organizers extended the grounds with the Oroszlános courtyard. Thus, not only were the stalls placed more sparsely but the visitors also had more space to loiter and stagger around.
Budapest reloaded - trends, culture and gastronomy in the city
We Love Budapest is introducing Budapest's progressive, almost metropolitan nature in a trendy conference alongside with the capital's pioneer faces. In the blocks, representatives from 3-4 trends will talk for 10 minutes explaining one common theme. After each block there will be an opportunity for free speech, where anyone in the audience can ask their questions. The unconventional conference will end with a wine tasting during which we invite the participants for an informal chat, and a small get-together with the members of WeLoveBudapest.
