Uránia National Film Theater, one of the most charming cinemas in town, is half way between the Small Boulevard and the Grand Boulevard. Built in a Neo-Moorish style in 1894, the building originally served as a nightclub. It later became a venue for popular science lectures – before becoming a cinema of adventurous history. Its enormous, elegant auditorium provides a unique environment for movie screenings and it's definitely a good choice for attending the premiers of Hollywood blockbusters or a film festival. They often have thematic film weeks. Nowadays the University of Theatre and Film Arts is located in the building, too.
